After I finished up the school year, I found myself daydreaming about everything I could do with my summer instead of actually doing it. I have visions of music shows, walks on the National Mall, lots of lemonade, and nourishing my soul in general. I’m not normally a goal-setter- my philosophy has traditionally been a bit more laissez-faire (it will happen if it’s supposed to happen) about my goals, but here’s my personal social experiment for Summer 2013. I’ll check in a couple times in the summer via the blog to see how I’m doing, adjust/add goals, and ask for some of your advice! So, instead of continuing to make lists, I’m putting it here- if you see me in real life, ask me about it! If you see me on Facebook, call me out on it…and hopefully the list ends up being fun instead of stressful What are some of your personal and professional goals this summer?
.) Read one book every week and blog about them. (I just finished Lean In and am excited to post a review soon- up next is one of Sonia Sotomayor’s memoirs!)
b.) Reread Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire. Just because.
.) Go to a yoga class. Possibly a hot yoga class.
.) Train for a 10k/register for a 10k
.) Submit at least one conference presentation proposal
.) Write something. Anything.
.) Attend a free concert at the Kennedy Center
.) Eat at home more
.) Dance in the rain whenever possible
.) Learn how to use the video camera from the library/imovie
.) Call at least 5 friends I haven’t spoken to recently
