  1. HI Viraj. I read your blog on the Comission for SJ educator’s blog and wanted to let you know that I a) resonate with it tremendoulsy and have been on a path to share doing with talking-about as the daughter of an entirely academic family. (Grandma’s got a PhD too, woot!) and b) cheer you on!! and c) have some totally unsolicited advice on awesome organizations to get you started with in DC, my former and beloved home: 1. For Love of Children (tutoring/mentoring- Columbia Heights). Also the DC Habitat for Humanity is rad to work with if you like outdoors/hands-on work! 2. Climate Rally – Saturday July 27 through 350.org’s Summer Heat Campaigns and the Chesapeake Climate Action Network- and if you’re not sure yet what it all has to do with social justice, check out work by Naomi Klein http://www.naomiklein.org/‎ 3.CASA de Maryland is always a leader when it comes to immigration issues and rallies in DC and hosting parties to call your representatives etc (Sounds like you still vote Vermont?). On the radar this summer in DC: Farm Bill (Food Bill, food stamps, international aid etc); Keystone XL pipeline; Immigration Bill!

    Enjoy your summer of action!
